Burma goes Papper

The Mars issue of Papper is out now. In the middle of the magazine you'll find my Burma illustration, but there with yellow background. A very good choice of them I must say.

Me - a designer

I was serving myself lunch at the local Chinese restaurant yesterday when a little girl about five years old, I've never seen, before pointed at me and said to her mom "Look, a designer!"

She was right and I was happy.

Burma pattern

Keep your eyes open for this pattern in the next issue of Papper (April 2008). It's a pattern made for a text on Burma. The illustration are built up from elements from the text and from some inspiration pictures.

I don't know yet which background color they are going to use, but this was one of the proposals.

An enlargement of the illustration itself.

Papper is the only free Swedish magazine to be found in its genre in Finland. Soon you'll also be able to download it from their website. I'll notify when.

Jo33 in cyberspace

Scroll down to the middle of the page at Designbooms snapshots from Greenhouse at Stockholm Furniture fair and you'll see a glimt of my make-up table 'Isis'.

While you're at it you can take a look at Nordisk Interiör's Web TV and you'll see me in action being interviewed from the place happening, again, Greenhouse. If you hold on about 3,3o minutes you'll see the shooting from our stand.

My workspace

I was tagged by Maria to show my workspace, so here it is.
Enjoy.

So, this is my workspace at home. I work sitting on a gymnastics ball, to improve my posture. Efficiency, oh yeah.

My fantastic Mac and my lovely drawing board are my main work tools.

Inspiration toys. The dog is a gift from a very good friend; Manu. It's a souvenir from her study town Gmünd in Germany.

The illustration of the funny man is an enlargement from the CD cover of Matchbox Twenty's album Mad Season. Isn't he lovely ?

The 'I love Joss' (Joss=my nickname) card was a gift from a friend on Valentine's day once in primary school.

Beyond Retro - nice second hand shop in Stockholm (and London)

An inspiring cassette wallet made by www.privatecircle.it. Bought from the Designboom Mart at Stockholm Furniture Fair 2008.

Pattern 'Savannah II'

Creativity.
Inspiration.
Relaxation.

Pattern.
Textile.

'Savannah II' was originally a textile pattern proposal for an order made by The Social Insurance Institution of Finland (SII) in 2006, but ended up as my contribution to the pattern podium in our stand shown at the Stockholm Furniture Fair 2008. The colors used here are from our common color palette for the pattern podium.

('Savannah I' with its four part cushion series is now to be found at the facilities of SII in Jakobstad, Finland)

Small facts: Digital and textile orders made upon order.

Stationary make-up bag '512 N'

It’s natural to love beautiful things. It’s natural to want to make things beautiful. So what is more natural than wanting to make ourselves look beautiful?

I would be the first person to admit these facts and I am fascinated and inspired by the urge of beauty.

'512 N' is a stationary make-up bag you keep at home. Forget the rummaging through your old make-up bag; the beauty of '512 N' is that you just have to unbutton the leaves to have your make-up or hair accessories visible right in front of you. And when not in use it rests, easy on the eye, like a beautiful flower bud just waiting to unfold for your beauty.

Small facts: '512 N' is available in two sizes;
'512 N' Big: bottom square 15x15 cm with 25/20 cm long leaves
'512 N' Small: bottom square 12x12 cm with 20/15 cm long leaves.

The material is felt and the colors are turquoise and soft white.
Made upon order.

Make-up table 'Isis'

Different kinds of tables have fascinated me for some time now. Most designers’ dream is creating the perfect chair, but I dream of making the perfect table for the right purpose. Today we don’t have as many tables with different purposes as we did back in the days. Maybe it’s a question of making life easier for the consumer, or perhaps, just a lack of interest for most designers.

'Isis' is a modern make-up table for the enlightened woman. Expressive in its execution, inspired by the royal crown, but still, stylish thanks to the white color and the transparent pattern.

Getting all fancy, whether it is for everyday life or a party is something I love, like so many other women, so why not make the moment a little more special? 'Isis' makes sure your own beauty ritual becomes a bit more valuable. Add value to your life.

Small facts: 'Isis' does not have a producer yet. The only copy of the table and the stool is a prototype made of plywood.
